英文の骨組みの捉え方

伝説のスピーチの解説の続きをします。

ここでも、名詞は［ ］のカッコで、形容詞は（ ）のカッコで、副詞は〈 〉のカッコで、囲むと次の様になります。

［ Your time ］is（ limited ）, so don't waste ［ it ］〈 living someone else's life 〉. Don't be （ trapped by dogma ）— （ which is living with the results of other people's thinking ）. Don't let ［ the noise of others' opinions ］（ drown out your own inner voice）. And 〈 most important 〉, have ［ the courage ］（ to follow your heart and intuition）. ［ They ］〈 somehow 〉〈 already 〉know ［ what you truly want to become ］. ［ Everything ］ （ else ） is （ secondary ）.

更に、5文型で骨組みを見てみると、

［ S ］V2（ C ）, so V3［ O ］〈 living someone else's life 〉. V2 （ C ） — （ which is living with the results of other people's thinking ）. V5［ O ］（ C ）. And 〈 most important 〉, V2［ O ］（ to follow your heart and intuition）. ［ S ］〈 somehow 〉〈 already 〉V3 ［ O ］. ［ S ］ （ else ）V2 （ C ）.

更に、英文の骨組みを捉える上では、5文型という骨組みと無関係な（形容詞）や〈副詞〉などの修飾語は、［名詞］や動詞、補語となる（形容詞）などの被修飾語に比べ、重要性が落ちる為、これらも除いてみると、以下の様なシンプルな骨組みが浮かび上がってきます。

［ S ］V2（ C ）, so V3［ O ］. V2 （ C ） .  V5［ O ］（ C ）. And  V2［ O ］. ［ S ］V3 ［ O ］. ［ S ］ V2 （ C ）.

赤が大幅に減り、水色は完全に消えました。

さらにカッコもとると、

 S V2 C, so V3 O. V2 C. V5 O C. And V2 O. S V3 O. S V2 C.

外人が英文を聞いたり、話したりする時は、実は、無意識の内に、この骨組みに乗っかっているのです。
しかし、心配しないでください。我々日本人も少し訓練すれば、この骨組みを捉え、そこに乗っかれる様になるのです。
